Star TV canlı is a Turkish national TV channel. Ferit Sahenk's Dogus Media Group has owned it since 2011.
Star TV live, was founded by Ahmet Ozal and Cem Uzan in 1989 as Magic Box. It is Turkey's first privately owned TV channel. The test broadcasting of the channel began on May 5, 1990. It was known briefly as Star Magic Box in the early 1990s because Star 1 was copyrighted to another media company. Before it became red in 2000, its first logo featured a blue S with an image of a star.
It is also the first Turkish private channel to launch digital broadcasting in 1999. Star TV was placed on the block by Turkish savings & deposit insurance funds (TMSF), along with other media assets including seven radio stations and a newspaper. This was done to pay off the Treasury's debts resulting from the acquisition of Adabank and Imar Bankasi. Star TV canlı yayın was put up for auction by TMSF. It was purchased by Isil Television Broadcasting Corp. (Dogan Media Group), which received the highest bid at $306.5 m in September 2005's auction. Dogan Holding sold Star TV to Dogus Media Group for $327m on 17 October 2011.
