CNN (Cable News Network) is an American news television channel founded in 1980 by entrepreneur Ted Turner. It is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery and is operated by its subsidiary CNN Global.​ CNN was the first television network to cover news 24 hours a day and the first news channel in the United States.​

Since its launch on June 1, 1980, the network has expanded significantly, currently including 15 cable and satellite television networks, twelve websites and four radio networks. CNN has also launched several networks in other languages, such as Spanish and Turkish.

CNN is currently the second most watched news channel in the United States, the first being Fox News. It also owns two Spanish-language networks, CNN en Español and CNN Chile and two Portuguese-language networks, CNN Brasil and CNN Portugal, also distributing radio programs in that language. In 1997 she was awarded the Prince of Asturias Award for Communication and Humanities jointly with Vaclav Havel.​

The network has received criticism both nationally and internationally, and from various parts of the political spectrum. The usual criticisms focus on the way they cover the information they usually give, as well as the ownership and financing of it.​ On March 4, 2022, it ceased its broadcasts in Russia due to the law that is persecuting journalists in the framework of the 2022 Russian Invasion of Ukraine.
