Rai 1 (also known as Rai Uno) is an Italian public television channel. On 3 January 1954, the Italian state's broadcaster, Programma Nazionale, started. From 15 March 1976 to 3 October 1983, the station was called Rete 1. Since October 3, 1983, the station has had its current name. Rai Uno is the main tv channel of the Radiotelevisione Italiana (Rai), the Italian public broadcaster, and is the most-watched channel in Italy. It is a general channel with Canale 5 of Mediaset as its most direct competitor.
