ORF 2 is Austria's public television channel. It was established as a technical testing program on September 11, 1961. It is now one of four Austrian public television channels.
ORF 2 can be accessed via DVB-T near the Austrian border in Germany and parts of Munich. It is funded through a combination of advertising breaks as well as a television license fee. Unlike its German counterparts, which are usually free to air, ORF 2 and its sister stations can be encrypted over satellite.
