In addition to their news, SWR's television station offers a lot of entertainment. Among the programs on the station are satirical talks and comedy series. Many of the shows are aimed at a broad audience, from families to people who are just starting a family. This network also offers a wide range of other programming, such as sports, music and arts. Here are some of the highlights from the current season:
SWR Fernsehen is one of eight regional third channels broadcasted by the Sudwestrundfunk. The channel targets the states of Rhineland-Palatinate and Baden-Wurttemberg. The station was first broadcasted on 5 April 1969 as a joint venture between the Suddeutscher Rundfunk and the SDR. The network was renamed to Baden-Wurttemberg on the same day.
The SWR-Programm is also available in German IPTV networks. Entertain and Vodafone TV also offer the service. In Switzerland and Osterreich, SWR Fernsehen is also available on cable systems. It is available via the satellite system Astra. Some regions do not receive SWR Fernsehen, so they must use another service. Alternatively, SWR can be viewed live. SWR's website is a good place to catch up on current affairs.
Sudwestrundfunk, the German public service broadcaster, is the largest of the nine Landesrundfunkanstalts of the ARD. It serves the regions of Rheinland-Pfalz and Baden-Württemberg, with its headquarters in Stuttgart. In addition to SWR Fernsehen, Sudwestrundfunk also produces several Horfunk programmes including "Expedition in the Heimat" and "Schatze der Welt".
