Global News Calgary is part of the Global Television Network. It is a Calgary television station. Corus Entertainment owns and operates the station. It has studios at Calgary Television Centre, 23 Street Northeast, and Barlow Trail in northeast Calgary. The transmitter is located west of Calgary's city limits, near Old Banff Coach Road/Highway 563. Global News Calgary was the master control center for all 15 Global-owned and-operated stations in Canada from August 29th, 2022 to August 29th, 2022.
CICT broadcasts all Global programming and operates on the same schedule as its Edmonton sister station CITV DT. CISA-DT, a sister station in Lethbridge, also airs all non-news programming as well as some Calgary-based newscasts.

Currently, CICT broadcasts 46 1/2 hours worth of locally produced newscasts every week (7 1/2 hours on weekdays and 4 1/2 hours on Saturdays and Sundays). It is the station with the most hours dedicated to news programming of any English-language TV station in Calgary.
Global News Calgary was the first station to use a helicopter to gather news on April 11, 2007. It is called "Global 1" and provides traffic reports for the Morning News, in addition to in-studio traffic segments. It also has the potential to provide breaking news coverage. CHQR (770 AM), also shares the helicopter during rush hour. CICT was the first station to broadcast local newscasts in Calgary and in Alberta in high definition. A new virtual set was also created on this date.
CICT launched a Sunday morning newscast that ran from 8-10 a.m. Mountain Time on September 11. The station's weekday morning newscast was extended to four hours on August 27, 2012. It also added a half hour at 5 a.m. to the newscast, which is titled the Early Morning News. On September 2, 2012, the station increased its Sunday morning newscast from three hours to three hours. An additional hour was added at 7 a.m. As part of the Shaw Communications sale of the Global Network, the station expanded its morning newscasts.
